How to Book Registration Form Conditions of Booking These are on a separate sheet enclosed with this leaflet so that it may be faxed. In order to book a place at the Symposium you must complete a Registration Form. If you do not have a Form, please contact the Secretariat or print it out from the website (see below for the address).
How to reach the Venice Lido Venice is served by two airports: Marco Polo which is just north of the city and Treviso about 50 minutes away. There are direct flights from the major European cities and visitors from outside Europe must connect via Milan or Rome (or another European city). It takes about 50 minutes from Marco Polo by water taxi to the Excelsior Hotel’s own pier on the Lido. From Treviso you can take a taxi, coach or public bus/train to Venice and from there by water taxi or Vaporetti (waterbuses) to the Lido. Verona, a bit further away is also used as a third airport. The Secretariat will send you more information about getting to the Venice Lido, if required.
Social Programme A Welcome Reception will be held in the Excelsior Hotel on Sunday 21 October. Sponsored drinks on Monday and Tuesday evenings are being planned, providing delegates and accompanying persons with a forum to meet prior to dining.
Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony The Symposium Awards Ceremony will be held at the Gala Dinner which is being held at the Hotel des Bains on Friday 26 October. This will be the last official get-together and will give everyone the opportunity to say farewell in these splendid surroundings in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Accommodation Accommodation will be principally in the Westin Excelsior Hotel where the Symposium sessions will be held. However its sister hotel, the Hotel des Bains will also be used. The hotels are within 15 minutes walk of each other on the Adriatic Sea and are both 5*Luxury hotels. If you particularly wish to stay at the Hotel des Bains, let us know. We have a limited number of patio view and smaller rooms available at a cheaper rate. Please contact the Secretariat if you are interested in one of these or for any other information regarding your accommodation, including prices for Suites. Please note it is not practical to stay in hotels which are a boat ride away.
Accompanying persons Accompanying persons are welcome to join in the social programme during the Symposium. There is so much to do and see in Venice and surrounds and a coffee morning will be arranged for people to meet up. Please note that attendance at any working session of the symposium is not permitted for accompanying persons.
Wednesday 24 October Wednesday will be the traditional free day. There is a Golf course on the Lido, so please contact the Secretariat if you would like to play golf.
